And then the same politicians who take their corporate checks point the finger at immigrants instead of their employers.
Let’s be clear: if you want someone to work for you in America, you are responsible for making sure they’re authorized. And if you hire someone illegally, you should be the one facing fines, audits, and legal action — not the families trying to scrape by. This isn’t complicated. We don’t need new tools — we need to use the ones we already have and grow the spine to enforce them. Mandate E-Verify for every employee and contractor nationwide. No loopholes. PURPOSE:
The HIRE Act shifts the focus of immigration enforcement away from vulnerable families and workers and toward the corporations that fuel illegal immigration by knowingly hiring unauthorized labor. For decades, we’ve scapegoated immigrants while letting employers off the hook. That ends here.
This bill implements a mandatory, nationwide rollout of the E-Verify system within one year of passage. It creates strict penalties for employers who violate the law, protects whistleblowers, and ensures that no business can undercut wages or dodge taxes by hiring undocumented workers in the shadows. The goal is simple: if you can’t legally work here, you shouldn’t be hired here — and if you’re hiring illegally, you’re the one breaking the law.
